Privacy Policy — Living Witness

Who we are

Living Witness (livingwitness.live) is a free, non-denominational platform for sharing true testimonies of faith. We do not sell products, run ads, or monetise your data. The site is maintained by a small voluntary team.

What we collect when you submit a testimony

When you submit a testimony through the site form, we collect:

Your name — displayed publicly alongside your story (you may use a first name only or a pseudonym)
Location and country — displayed publicly to give context to your story
Category tag — e.g. Healing, Miracle, Dream
A short quote — the headline summary of your testimony
Your full story — the written account
An image — optional; if provided, stored and displayed with your testimony
Your email address — collected only so we can notify you of your submission status; never displayed publicly

We do not collect passwords, payment information, or government-issued identification.

How your testimony is reviewed and moderated

Every submission goes through a human moderation process before appearing on the site. This process is thorough and includes the following actions:

By submitting a testimony, you grant Living Witness the right to review, edit, publish, and remove your submission at any time, with or without prior notice.

Review — A moderator reads your submission in full to assess whether it meets our community guidelines: that it describes a genuine personal experience and does not contain harmful, misleading, or inappropriate content.
Editing — Moderators may edit your submission before or after publication. Edits may include correcting spelling and grammar, removing personal details that could identify third parties, shortening or restructuring for clarity, or adjusting language to better fit the platform's tone. We will not alter the substance or meaning of your testimony.
Approval — Submissions that meet our guidelines are approved and published publicly.
Rejection — Submissions that do not meet our guidelines are declined. Rejected submissions remain in our database but are not published.
Removal after publication — Even after a testimony has been approved and published, moderators may remove it at any time. Removed testimonies are marked as cleared in our system — they are no longer visible to the public but remain in our database for record-keeping. Reasons for removal include community reports, legal concerns, or editorial decisions.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address to send you a weekly digest of testimonies. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. We do not share your email with third parties.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and associated analytics tools to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, how long readers spend on testimonies, and where traffic comes from. This data is aggregated and not tied to individual identities. You can opt out via your browser's privacy settings or a tool like Google's opt-out extension.

Data storage

Submissions and newsletter addresses are stored securely in a hosted database. We retain submitted testimonies indefinitely as part of our archive. Newsletter emails are deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Request access to the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your submission and associated data
Withdraw consent for your testimony to remain published

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
